Our History

United Community Bank was originally chartered in 1911 and has been in continuous operation since. It first operated in Bertha, Minnesota. When the only two banks in Perham, Minnesota, failed in the 1930s, the town was without a banking facility for approximately two years. In 1934 we were authorized to move our charter to Perham as Perham State Bank.

The bank’s name was changed to United Community Bank in 1995 to more accurately reflect our mission to serve the financial needs of an expanding area, as we acquired the Frazee branch from First Integrity Bank of Staples, Minnesota. We further expanded our footprint in 2007 with an in-store location located in the Central Market grocery store located in Perham and, in 2012, with the acquisition and merger with Farmer’s State Bank of Dent. In 2013 we moved our headquarters to our current location on Main Street in Perham.

We have since grown steadily with the strong support of our customers and now have total assets in excess of $250 million. We live, work, and play in the communities that we serve, and are committed to meeting the financial needs of our growing economies.

Our Community Involvement

Community really is our middle name.

And so we take giving back pretty seriously. Each year our employees volunteer over 1100 hours at over 40 local nonprofits, and are even able to volunteer some of those hours during the work day.

We give back financially to our communities through sponsorships, donations, and of course, local lending.
